Android is an open source mobile operating system base on Linux operating system and an open platform for developers can make their own apps and users can download them from the android market and enjoy them.

The team:
Andy Rubin – co-founder of Danger
Rich Miner – co-founder of Wildfire Communications, Inc.
Nick Sears – once VP at T-Mobile
Chris White – headed design and interface development at WebTV

Steve Perlman, invested the first $10,000 in cash for the project.

The creators of Android talk about their new open platform for mobile phones and the Open Handset Alliance.

Google applies several patent applications related to  mobile telephony.

Google announces Android.
