Android USB Tethering on Windows XP

Here are the steps to configure tethering in Windows XP.

  • First of all you need to download the driver file. You can just right click this link & then save it on to your computer.  (http://www.android.com/drivers/tetherxp.inf)
  • Once done saving the file, connect the android device using the USB cable to your Computer.
  • Then, go to Settings on your mobile > select Wireless & Networks > Tethering & portable hotspot.
  • Under Tethering & portable hotspot select USB tethering(turn it on).

  • Then a dialog box will appear on your windows XP computer, new hardware wizard.
  • There select No, not at this time and click Next.
  • Then, select Install from a list or specific location” and select Next.
  • Then select Browse.
  • Choose the file directory where you saved the configuration file that just you downloaded in Step 1 and click Next.
  • Then the configuration file will do its trick and configure Windows XP to support USB tethering with the Android devices.
  • When Windows XP finishes installing the software for Android USB Ethernet/RNDIS, click Finish.
